Your dental crown is strong and reliable, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take good care of it. In fact, you should do all you can to keep it in tip-top shape. To help you do so, Dr. Henry Bowman and our dental team have some tips and recommendations for you.

First, you need to keep up on oral hygiene. This will keep your crown clean and pristine. You should brush twice a day, floss once a day, and rinse daily. As you do so, make sure you use a soft-bristled toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, and products that have been approved by the American Dental Association.

Second, visit your dentist every six months for a routine cleaning and checkup. This will allow our dental team to examine your dental crown, deeply clean it, and make sure it’s in the best shape possible. This will also give you a chance to ask questions if you have any.

Third, be careful as you chew with the crown when it’s first placed in your mouth. It’s also recommended to avoid chewing sticky foods with the crown until the cement is fully hardened. Once a few days have passed following treatment, you can use the crown as much as you would like.
