The American Dental Association recommends having a routine dental exam and cleaning performed every six months. Along with your daily oral hygiene routine, it is critical for maintaining a healthy mouth and detecting any oral health problems. Each exam performed at Henry B. Bowman, DDS will remove traces of tartar and monitor the health of your teeth, gums and mouth.

If Dr. Henry Bowman has concerns about the strength of your tooth enamel or the overall health of your teeth, he might recommend a basic fluoride treatment. This can be performed immediately following the dental exam.

Dr. Henry Bowman will administer the fluoride treatment by pouring concentrated fluoride gel into a tray that is held in your mouth for a few minutes. You should avoid eating or drinking for up to an hour after the treatment to allow the fluoride to deeply penetrate the enamel of your teeth.

The fluoride will help restore some of the mineral density of your tooth enamel. This makes your teeth less prone to tooth sensitivity and tooth decay.

If your teeth show signs of significant demineralization, Dr. Henry Bowman might also prescribe fluoride supplements. This often comes in the form of a prescription-grade concentrated fluoride toothpaste or mouthwash.

If you live in the Houston, Texas, area, and you are due for your next dental exam, you should call 713-961-9894 to schedule an appointment at Henry B. Bowman, DDS.
